Friends on Friday

I thought I would share these cute pictures of Casper and Kip.  I love that their tails are crossed over as they watch what is going on outside and I think the shots illustrate what good pals they are.  Interestingly you can see in these pics that Kip, the youngest cat, is now bigger than Casper, the alpha cat.

Mancat Monday

Hi Kids,
it's Kip here just hanging around,
waiting for something exciting to happen.
Hold on a minute, what was that?
Did my mum and dad buy our Christmas tree?!?!

Tuxie Tuesday

On the weekend I was doing some framing...luckily Ben was around to lend a hand paw.

Kip stepped in to help also while Ben inspected the smaller frames.

I often wonder how folks manage without cat assistance!!!

An Anniversary

Well kids, today is the one year anniversary of Kip coming to live with us.  As most of you know our friend Chrystal rescued him when he was a little wild thing along with his brothers Charms, Elfin and Monkey.  Here he is peeking out from behind his brother Elfin.

I always think it's funny that Kip was the smallest of his litter because he has grown into the biggest of the cats here....my gentle giant.

I can't believe a year has passed so quickly and yet it seems like Kip has always been with us.  He is such a  sweet and happy boy, I thank my lucky stars that Chrystal saved him and he came into my life!!!

Friday with Kip

We finish off the week with Kipling Moonshadow the True: and by true I mean innocent, guileless, and open hearted.  Kip's world is filled with joy and amazement because he is so receptive to absolutely everything.  Sights, sounds, toys, games, smells, people, food, sensations, his brothers, Rio, you name it, he approaches it all with wide-eyed wonder and revels in every moment of the experience.

ready for anything!

Kip is a peaceful panther, and I get the feeling he might just be following in Casper's Goodwill Ambassador foot pawsteps.  Of course he likes to play and tussle but he does so in such a affable and mellow manner he is the most non-aggressive cat I have ever met!

sorry for da blur, blame it on DaBird

Well that is it for all the boys, I hope your enjoyed these little glimpses into their personalities :-)

Feeling Better Friday

Hi Kids, Kip here.  I'm just about to pounce on my pink mousie, but I thought I'd take a sec and let you know that I'm all better!
Yep, no more runny eyes and nose and I am my playful self again, as you can see.
Jimmy is well again also and back to giving mum all the nose kisses she can handle!
Ben only sneezed once yesterday, we think he is fully recovered.
Archie is still sneezing a little but he is much improved.
Mum is hoping that by Saturday his cold will be completely gone.
For some reason Casper never got sick, he had one or two sneezes but that was the extent of things.
Thank goodness for small miracles!!!
Mum says it is because he is such a strong mancat.
I think it's because he is our fearless leader :-)
Anyway, thank you to everyone who asked about us and sent purrs, it really helped.
I better go now, looks like Ben has designs on my pink mousie.
Yah, dream on brohim.

Enjoy the weekend everyone!!!!

Purrs for Kip Please

Hi all, I'd like to ask you to send along some healing purrs to our young Kip. On Saturday he started with a cold and some crazy sneezing....his right eye began watering followed by his left eye and now he has a little wheeze in his nose too.

I'm not feeling well

Then last night during the Olympics (I was watching the women gymnasts, who incidentally use more eye make-up and hair glitter than Vegas showgirls) Jimmy started sneezing!!!  He was not as bad as poor Kip who is regularly gripped by at least seven huge sneezes in a row (I've counted) but I definitely heard a few little achoos emanate from his perch on the back of the sofa.

I may need some purrs too
The vet said it is a virus that has to run it's course...please keep you fingers and paws crossed it does not run through the entire household or there will be a lot of unhappy mancats around here.  Not to mention I am totally stressed out with one sick cat, maybe two...I can't even begin to imagine five!!!

Look what dear Ann from Zoolatry made for us!  Thank you Ann you are so thoughtful :-)

Formerly Feral Friday with Kip

Hi all, I have something really fun to show you today.  I recently had Kip's portrait drawn by a wildly talented artist named Jo from Studio Legohead who hails from across the pond.  I read about Jo's work a few weeks ago on Catsparella and contacted her immediately!  We chatted via email about what kind of illustration I was hoping for, then I sent her a little bio about Kip, several pictures and links to blog posts which had featured him.

This is the photo she chose to work from,

and THIS is the fabulousness she created.........

Doesn't Kip just look great?!?!  I think she captured not only his likeness but his gentle manner also.  I am so completely thrilled with the outcome, I cannot thank Jo enough!!!!

When the portrait has arrived and I've framed it, I will post again to show all of you the finished effect :-)

Mancat Monday, an award for Kip

Hello friends, Kip here with some very exciting news.

I've been given an award by the beautiful Miss Penelope from the delightful blog Mewsings of Garden Cottage Cats. Penelope is one of six cats who live at the cottage, if you are not familiar with this cat family you simply must drop by their blog, it is an enchanting place and one visit is never enough!

I am supposed to tell you one illuminating fact about myself then select five blogging friends to receive the award, but because I like to do things a little differently, I'm going to tell you five facts about myself and then give the award to one fellow blogger.

  1. I am the youngest kitty here but also the biggest; I am longer, taller and heavier than all my brothers.
  2. My woofie sister is my very best friend in the world and we play and hang out together all the time.
  3. I love my stinky goodness and I'm always the first to finish at mealtimes, if mum doesn't keep an eye on me I will eat everyone elses food too.
  4. My gleaming white claws stand out against my black fur but I have never scratched anyone
  5. I'm really good at yoga

Kip demonstrates Boat Pose with legs apart

Now I would like to pass this award along to that dashing Maine Coon mancat and fellow Canadian kitty Dante from the blog All About Lacocoon Dante I'm sure there are lots of illuminating catfacts he has to share :-)

Mancat Monday

Real mancats hold hands...

Kip has enjoyed holding hands from the moment we got him and will do it with both Robert and myself.  He loves to reach out and grab my finger ever so gently, I rub his pads and he stretches and flexes his claws making happy paws while purring contentedly...it's terribly sweet :-)

Happy Memorial Day to our friends in America who are honouring the brave men and women who have died serving their country.

Friday Fun

We all know my name is Kipling Moonshadow, but a young mancat (four days now) about town like myself has to be flexible and respond to the many love names my mummy has for me.

Mostly I’m called Kip, but I know that when mum says she wants some Kipper Pie, that’s me too

Kipness, Kipsilano, Kipernicus, yes those are all me

Kipsy Russell, yep over here

How many names do you have?

Wacky Wednesday

No this isn't the world's largest cat bed...this is Rio's dog bed, it is in our sunroom by the back door.  I may have mentioned before that we come and go mostly through the back door.

When we returned from our walk the other day Kip was here in Rio's bed waiting for a cuddle....not a cuddle from ME mind you, but a cuddle from Rio.  They are great pals :-)

Whiskerless Wednesday

When Kip first came to us he had this one wacky white whisker.  The odd thing about this whisker other than being white...it was about three times longer than his black whiskers (which are tiny) and it stuck straight out!

weird whisker
Then the other day I noticed his white whisker was gone.  I asked him what happened to it, but he wasn't telling

I've got a secret
