Tired Tuxie Tuesday
Oh hi kids, is it Tuxie Tuesday already? I'm afraid I don't have a post prepared because I was out all day yesterday playing with my beautiful girlfriend Clemmie at her house.
So let me just think for a moment what I should post about today...

Tuxie Tuesday
When it is very hot, as it was this past weekend, Ben likes to lie on the floor in the hall outside our bedroom. I have no idea why he finds this cooling because the upstairs is usually sweltering even with A/C, but he does and often I come across another cat or two in the hall with him.
Special thank you and purrs to Ann from Zoolatry for fixing my header with her creative touch when my "maximum pixels" in blogger got messed up. Ann, what would everyone do without you?!?

Tuxie Tuesday
I took these pictures of Ben the other day and I think they are hilarious. They look like some cheesy Sears Portrait Studio baby pictures. Hope you get a giggle out of them but be sure to tell Ben we are laughing WITH him, not at him :-)

Tuxie Tuesday
Oh boy I'm exhausted! Yesterday my lovely Clemmie and I had a picnic and she invited all our friends to come and join us. We had tons of fun and played and played all day. Today I'm napping and not moving at all.
Ok, I'll admit I moved a little...but not much!
NOTE: Sorry folks I meant to press post options and I pressed publish instead; oops! oh well my Tuesday post will be a little early.

A Tuxie Secret
Shall I tell you a secret about Ben…whisper it quietly in your ear?
He is a VERY sensitive boy and he has a very precious spot in my heart because of that. Ben is emotional and at times his little face is so expressive it makes my heart ache and smile simultaneously. He is the smallest of my boys (not including Ash of course), young master Archie has surpassed him in size now but he has some BIG attitude. Sometimes he scraps with Casper and Archie in a very un-brotherly fashion trying to show how tough he is, but then the doorbell rings and he hides under the bed (the others don’t run from the bell). He tries to be such a badass, but he really is a delightful mama’s boy. He always has to have special snuggle time for just the two of us and if he doesn’t get it, he comes looking for it, usually at 5:00 in the morning. I’ll wake up in the night and find him rolled into the tightest, small ball and pressed up against me. I’ll stroke him and he purrs and purrs and does happy paws. It was a different story though when Molly was alive and the boys were not allowed into her domain which was our master bedroom. Ben would come to the door in the early morning and scratch on the panes of glass. I would have to get up and find my robe through bleary eyes. When I opened the door he would be sitting outside waiting then he would run down the hall looking up at me to make sure I was following him to the back bedroom. He would stand in the bedroom and I’d pick him up and give him kisses and put him on the bed, he’d go to the window (the bed is pushed right up beside it) and look out while I settled myself, lying down on my side. Once I was ready he would come over to me and curl up like a little spoon against my stomach and lie like that for at least half an hour before Casper or Archie were up. The minute one of the other boys would appear in the bedroom Ben would take off and that would be my cue to go back to bed for a precious few extra minutes. Robert would always say to me when I returned “you’re endorsing bad habits by giving into him” and I’d reply “Yes I know, but sometimes Ben just needs a cuddle from his mum”.

Tuxedo Tuesday
The nice folks over at the New Tuxedo Gang Hideout posted Ben’s picture today on their blog and welcomed him into their club. In light of this, Ben thought I should write a little about how he came to live with us…
We adopted Ben from Toronto Animal Services on Friday, March 13, 2009, and it was a very lucky day for us! His age was unknown but the shelter staff thought he was around five months old. Three evenings in a row we went back to the shelter and basically ignored him because we were looking for an older cat as a companion for Casper. Ben (or Kennedy as he was known then) would reach his paws outside his cage and try to catch us while dancing around on his hind legs and we thought isn’t he sweet as we walked on by and went to look at other cats. Finally Robert took him out and held him towards me saying “what about this guy”? I cradled him in my arms and he lay contentedly on his back and made happy paws in the air. Well I was hooked and we took him home immediately. After a year and four months together I constantly marvel at what a fantastic cat Ben is and how he knew that we were the right people for him and didn’t give up trying to tell us so!
And the moral of the story is: when the universe tries to tell you something, like putting a kitty in your path who is basically jumping up and down saying Pick Me, Pick Me, it’s a sign (duh) so pay attention and you will be joyfully rewarded EVERY SINGLE DAY!
