We're Baaaaaack!

Hello friends,

It's been a while since I've posted regularly (other than birthdays and gotchas), I took a longer break than originally anticipated.  I am five months into my recovery now, feeling very good and looking forward to getting back to blogging!  I have missed interacting with all of you so much and have thought about you often during my absence, please forgive me for being gone so long.

Just in case you've forgotten what the boys look like, I thought I'd start off with some recent pics of the gang :-)

Here's Casper playing with a new mousie, I'll post about where the mousies came from later this week.

Ben the other day giving me one of his cutest poses...actually I think he's daydreaming about his lovely Clementine

An extreme kitty close-up (EKC) of Archie's beautiful face.

Jimmy with eyes transfixed watching birds outside the bedroom window.  Jimmy is one of the loudest "chatterers" we have in the house.

Kipper on top of the fridge with the kitchen pig.

We're looking forward to catching up on the happenings around the CB and reconnecting with all of our friends!!!

The New Bed...

Yesterday we had a new bed delivered, or more accurately the frame.  This caused great excitement among the cats as three huge boxes were brought into the house.  The bed is a king size which posed a bit of a logistical problem because our home is not....

Our tiny beach house is about 100 years old, with uneven floors and only two closets in the entire place if you can believe that!  We have three bedrooms but they are little.  The master luckily has a slanted roof alcove at one end so my dresser (Robert's is in another room entirely) tucks nicely out of the way leaving a decent amount of floor space but the bed will take up just about the whole room.

The funny thing is that the mattress and box springs were delivered separately about a month ago but because the frame was a custom order from this company in California which specializes in iron beds, the delays have been endless!  So we have been sleeping with our new mattress on the floor for a while like a couple of hippies – LOL!!!

I must admit I love having a big bed.  The cats rarely sleep on Robert’s side, but I am regularly pinned down by all four.  I used to think king beds were gauche and for years I refused to even consider one.

Robert persisted mostly because he is tall (6’ 3”) and I think he wanted to lie diagonally without bothering me so his feet wouldn’t hang over the end.  Then after we got Jimmy who is an up-close night time cuddler I finally said to Robert that yes we now had to get the king bed because I just couldn’t take the crowding anymore.   I know Jim is just wee but four really made a difference!

I think the bed was well worth the wait and is absolutely gorgeous.  It's large yes, but the open bars give it an airy feel and it really isn't as overpowering as I was afraid it would be.

Can you see the crystal knobs :-)

Thankful (for Pam) Thursday

I am thankful for the wonderful and caring friends that I have in the CB.  I never tire of saying that and my feelings are continually affirmed.

Today I am thankful specifically for knowing a generous lady named Pam from California and her five fine kitties: Petey, Jack, Spunky, Tabitha and Madison LaRue.  I was lucky to have the winning bid for a beautiful silver kitty necklace in Chrystal's Cathouse auction that was donated by Pam.  Today a rather large package arrived in the mail, I was a bit perplexed by this since a necklace is a small item.  Inside the box there was a treasure trove of goodies for my boys.  Pam claims that she was helping Santa with his busy schedule by delivering these toys to us but we think she and her gang had a hand/paw in it :-)  I feel so fortunate to know such fantastic people, thank you Pam for your thoughtfulness!!!

Cats: Ok mum enough chat, now show everyone what was in the package....

Well first of all I had to physically remove Jimmy from the box so we could unpack the contents.

In this picture you can see the beautiful silver necklace (bottom right), a kong kickeroo (a favourite around here), two sparkle balls that rattle, and a cat cube which is particularly great because they don't seem to be available in Canada!  Underneath Casper you can just make out the feather mouse that has a velcro opening where it can be filled with nip (supplied).

In the background you will note there is a Santa stocking still in the box.  It was filled with bags of Temptations and Party Mix, not to mention the two bags of Greenies (yum, yum) that you can see!

I love this picture because all four boys are together investigating all the loot before they broke away with their individual favourites.
Casper took the Kong Kickeroo

Ben selected the Feather Mouse (with nip)

Then Archie stole it from him.
After the excitement died down and the cats had dispersed, Jimmy found a cozy spot to be alone with his House Mouse :-)

Now here's the thing folks, Pam does not have a blog (although she visits many of us in the CB).  However, she has been flirting with the idea of starting one.  If you are leaving a comment today, lets give her some encouragement, there is always room for another great cat person in our community!

Wonderful Amy!

Yesterday the boys received a package from Amy at the House of Cats.  Amy truly has a heart of gold and embodies the spirit of giving!

Jimmy was the first one on the scene followed closely by Ben.
look at my picture on this pendant
Then Casper and Archie.
can you see Archie under the table?
The package was filled with cat treats and toys and a lovely pendant.  Amy had made the pendant  herself using the badge that Anne from Zoolatry had created to commemorate Jimmy's (formerly Ash) adoption from Winnie's Wish.
this picture is also on our sidebar :-)
The boys were so excited they took off with some of the toys before I even had a chance to cut the tags off!
I just whapped a turquoise mouse onto the floor
Jimmy still remembers going on a car ride with Amy and that she helped him on his way to live with us!

Thank you auntie Amy!
Amy you are a very generous friend! Thank you for thinking of us and for sending such a thoughtful package of goodies for the boys!

Happy Tock'tober

I didn't get pictures posted last week in time for Derby's birthday, but I figured it's still October so I've made it in under the wire :-)  Here are the boys in all their Tocks glory and a special cameo from Molly.
