Monday Memories; Molly and Max

Last year was our first Christmas as part of the Cat Blogosphere and we learned of a wonderful tradition from our friends over at Cory Cat Blog.  They hang stockings for their angel kitties who have gone to the bridge. These stockings are not filled with toys because they are already full of memories. Isn’t that just the nicest  tradition you ever heard of?  The moment I read it I knew I wanted to do it too :-)

In November I contacted an incredibly talented woman from Calgary, Alberta who knits the most beautiful sweaters, hats, mitts, slippers and stuffed animals you have ever seen.  At this time of year she also knits custom Christmas stockings.  I had these two exquisite stockings made for Molly and Max which arrived the other day.  I couldn’t be more pleased with the way they turned out.  Check out the poms and the chubby little mousies!

Sadly we don't have a fireplace to hang these but I think they look lovely by the window.

That makes us purr knowing that you have carried forward with our tradition. We also put our angel stockings around the window because all of the stockings on our fireplace mantel take over!!! We have 12 stockings on the fireplace for Santa to fill and we have 13 guardian angel stockings around the window on a garland.

We'll post about them before Christmas.

xoxo Cory

They're wonderful! And that really is such a beautiful way to remember those who have crossed. Our mom and grandma knit....thinking ahead for next year. :-)

Absolutely beautiful craftsmanship for your two angels.
Actually I think they are purrfect by the window...your angels can see them when they fly by to visit.

That is such a good idea. Our Mom would really like to do that too. Maybe next year. Does this woman sell these things??
What a great way to remember the kitties that have left. We remember Molly and when she left. That was so sad. She was such a pretty girl. Take care and have a great day.

We losted hissy old Licorice last year just before Christmas and we readed about the stockings. We hung his up in the window too and it made us feel like he was there!
Yous has lovely socks.

They are lovely, and I think by the window is actually a very nice symbol--many people open a window for the soul of the departed to leave.

The stockings are lovely. Look at the mousie! If you do end up sharing the information about the person who made them, we might be interested too. OR to have a grandchild's stocking done in the future.

We have moved out badges or pictures for kitty friends at eh Rainbow Bridge to a separate page on the blog. Molly is right there still.

Those are beautiful stockings. It's a nice tradition for humans who can handle it - my human can't, it's too sad for her, even almost 10 years later.
