Hi cats and kittens, we are in a bit of a funk here today because our Drinkwell fountain broke, the motor won't pump the water through anymore. It was working fine but after the last cleaning it stopped. We're not talking about the snazzy new stainless 360° fountain that mum wrote about here but our old work-a-day plastic fountain which we've had forever and was up in
Mum knows that we like to have a selection of waters, still and sparkling just like in the restaurants. So, we have three waters bowls and one fountain upstairs, one fountain in the kitchen (the dog bowl is in the kitchen too but even in a pinch I can't imagine any self respecting cat stooping to such depths) and one water-cooler type bowl in the basement rec room. We like the fountains the best but you see when we're upstairs we don't want to have to walk all the way downstairs for a drink form the kitchen fountain. We're cats, we're lazy...as an example, we have FIVE litter boxes but we only really use the two which we feel are the most convenient, this drives mum crazy (hee, hee).
We've written to Santa and we are hoping he brings us a new fountain for Christmas that we can have upstairs...I think we have been very good this year so keep your fingers crossed everyone :-)

We have exactly ONE Drinkwell fountain and it is broken too - in fact it has been broken for months and my human has not replaced it! She keeps putting water in it so we have something to drink, but the motor is dead. :-(
I hope Santa gets your letter! Fountains look so cool!
Hi Cat,
Does the old fountain have the same kind of motor as the 360? If so, I think they are small standard aquarium motors and you may be able to get them at a pet store. I can't swear to this, but having had fish tanks in the past, they seemed the same to me.
Also, do you know that you can pry off the end (where the water intake slots are) and clean inside and sometimes that helps too. We get a lot of hair in ours and it really clogs up the works. There's a little round cover in there that can also be removed so you can see the little white propeller. Sometimes that needs cleaned out too.
Sadly we think our Drinkwell is almost at the end of it's lifespan, too. Our CatIt blew up about 6 weeks ago too!
That photo of you is sensational. Those eyes! :)
Wow, your water selection is really impressive! Oh, and by the way, we confess to al liking Tommy's water bowl....
Anyway, we have 6 litter boxes in the house (we use all of them!) but we only have three selections for water and nothing electronic. Maybe #1 needs to rethink?
Here's hoping Santa brings you a new fountain!
Purrs,
The Chans
We don't have a fountain, the mom thinks the noise of the two she tried scared us. But we're pretty sure Santa will bring you a new one!
We have only three water bowls around the house, but the mom never sees us drink from them, not now that we eat mostly canned with a bit of added water. She'd like to try another type of fountain, if there's one with a super-quiet motor out there, but figures she'd waste her money.
Hope Santa won't let you down ;)
It's good to know that you kitties rule the house! heehee
Purrs Tillie & Georgia
You guys sure deserve a new fountain!!
We used to have a fountain - mum was so excited when she brought it home for us - did we use it - what do you think?? It went in with things on a charity collection day!
Luv Hannah and Lucy xx xx
Call us silly, but our favorite water bowl is Grete's water bowl!
Our favourite water bowl is the glass mom is drinking water from at the time! MOL!
Our drinkwell moter conked out after many years of service and Daddy ordered a new one from their website! It was under $20 USD, delivered.
We are so impressed by the incredible selection of watering holes in your house! We sure hope Santa brings you a new fountain. And maybe a magic carpet that transports you to the three litterboxes that don't get used so much. :)
wow... we feel disadvantaged here... all those litter trays and fountains and bowls and and and... but we do have a ready-made 'human slave' who turns on any and every tap to our command (it just takes glance). We love your posts. Love Helen, Darcy and Bingley xxx
Our Mum says our old cat loved her automatic fountain. Both of them passed away years ago. But she is afraid to bring one into our home because I am afraid of the sound of small motors. We hope you get a new one!
We feel so deprived! We only have one fountain and that was after we begged and pleaded for it! We hope Santa Paws brings you a brand new fountain so you don't hafta drink out of the dog bowl. Yuck!
Hmmm...we all love drinking out of the dog bowls! But we have five other bowls to drink from in the main part of the house and then a few more in the "cottage".No water fountains but they sound very fun-especially for kittens! We use all six of our litter boxes.Maybe it's a boy thing?! Boys, we know you'll get your fountain because you have been especially nice this year-especially to Kip! :)
the critters in The Cottage xo
we bet Santy Clawrs will bring you boys a new fountain! He's sure to understand the inconvenience you'd be under without it ;-/

Have you ever cleaned the pump? When my pump died and I was googling where to get a new one, I came across this page and that was the problem with mine anyway. Note--this says Petmate, but it's the same brand filter in the Drinkwell.

Santa is very bright and I'm sure his has you on the nice list!!!
Santa knows how much you need that new drinking fountain. Make sure to stay on Santa's 'good' - at least until you get it!!
Santa will surely bring you another fountain, darlings. I know he will. xoxoxoxo
Jimmy,
We love those copper eyes.
OMC I would surely dry up if my water fountain broke. I need to tell Mom to go ahead and buy a spare. Not only do I enjoy the fresh flowing water...watching the water flow down the water fall often entertains me for hours.
Hugs Madi
Goodness, you do need a new fountain. We will put the good word in with Santa for you in hopes that he will bring you one. We are sending purrs for another fountain. Take care.
I'm sorry your water fountain broke. I hope Santa will bring new one soon!
We have three litter boxes but my kids use the one on the main floor most of the time :-)
We hope Santa brings you a new fountain.
That is a lovely picture of you.
Ours did that, Mommy poured some water down the tube thingy to prime the pump and it started working again. Oh drinking out of the dog bowl isn't that bad we have all tried Fenris' water. Hey we are lazy and his water was closer. ~Arty Mouse (I has to confess I also kissed Fenris on the mouth)
Hi Cat!
Thanks for commenting on my Fundraising for Cat Protection Society post! Just wanted to let you know of an update with my fundraising page - I've decided to give people more incentive to donate by doing 2 giveaways. The fundraising page will be active for 6 months so at the end of the first 3 months I'm going to draw all the donors out of a hat and they will win their choice of anything from my Etsy store (there will be even more cool art and apparel in there soon too!). At the end of the 6 months I'll do it again :o)Just wanted to inform you of the update, and thanks again for visiting The Purr Diaries!!!

=^..^=
I sure hope Santa brings you a new one if that is what your little hearts desire. Jimmy has the most gorgeous amber topaz eyes really! I think he gives "Edward" some competition!
