This is Oscar, my brother's cat who lives in rural Sweden. It is about -5C during the day and -20C at night so trips outside are only a few minutes then he knocks at the window to come back inside. My brother and his wife wait dutifully at the window to make sure he isn't out too long. Oscar is very well trained...or are they?

I am even surprised that he wants and needs to go outside it this freezing weather! On the other hands small trips are healthy, aren't they?
In that kind of weather, I don't think I would want to go outside at all! Of course, I am indoors-only, so even temperatures under 70 degrees are generally foreign to me!
we think we would be skipping the outside trips altogether

My Mom's kitties have a ball hanging at the door, with a little bell inside (it was a kitty toy), and they actually "ring the bell" when they want to come back in! :)

There's no way we would ask to go out in that weather, but it does sound like Oscar has your brother trained very well!

You asked about our stockings. The mom bought them years ago at JoAnn Fabrics (do they have those stores where you live?). She got one for both me and Wally, this was before Zoey lived here. When Zoey came along, the mom went back hoping (slim chance) that they might have the stocking or something similar. No such luck. So Zoey's stocking is totally different (it wasn't in the picture today). ~Ernie

It's good to be able to come inside in weather like that. Why would Oscar want to go out at all? Just hopeful, I guess.
