Tuxie Tuesday

Mum tells us over and over again not to go on the counters

So I wasn't on the counter

Frankly I'm confused why she was still cross

When I was clearly following instructions...sheesh!

***Note from mum:  Our stove does not have pilot lights, the jets only ignite when you turn the knobs on so there is no possibility of Ben getting singed.  I just don't want him to be in the habit of hanging out on the top in case one day he jumped up and the burner was was still hot from cooking.

Yes, you were following the letter of the law, but goodness, no one wants you to get burned buns! Even if you do look totally sweet there!

Ben, are those gas burners - with pilot lights? the black cat my human used to have singed his fur TWICE (maybe more) on those things!

My human's gas stove does NOT have pilot lights, so we are perfectly welcome to hang out on it... right?

Was it slightly warmish there Ben? Don't get your furs on fire!

That's a right cozy place to hang out in this cold weather.
To bad you got in trouble for siting up there.
You know what is coming now don't you. Now she'll put the stove off limits to all of you. I know I already tried the same thing.

MOL MOL MOL...Ben not only are we similar in markings we are of like mind. You are right you WERE not on the counter!!

There was a comedy routine years ago by Bill Cosby. He said when you send a child into wash his/her hands you must say,
go wash your hands with water and soap, rub them together, wash the back of your hands and in between your fingers, then rinse them off and dry them on a towel. Your sweet Mom needs to be very specific with her instructions.

MOL you are the Mancat of the day
Hugs from an admiring fan

Our Mom has a hissy fit if we get on the stove just for that reason that the burners might still be hot. Ben you do look good sitting up there. Hope all of you have one terrific day.

Mom knows just how you feel Cat - Hannah is very good but Lucy is not and jumps up onto the cooker too and she just looks so insolent when Mum tells her off and removes her. She just can't understand why she is being shut in another room!!
Luv Hannah and Lucy xx xx

there is the counter and then there is counter-type things. we have no idea why your mom is made (ok except for that maybe getting singed at some point problem)

When our cooker is stil hot mom locks the kitchen door and we are BANNED from the kitchen. :sigh:

Humans have to be very specific when they tell us something...and if they're lucky, we'll consider listening. :-P

So you were following her instructions to the letter.

Now, if we did that, we'd get the spray bottle squirted in our direction--we have a cruel human, you understand.

We can't get on our counters either but Mom gets really mad at us for going on the stove - humans!!!

Psst, Ben, want to know a secret? We go on the stove too (when it's not on, of course).

I love it!!!
He's not on the countertop so it's legal according to Cat Law.
One time long ago when we used to try to enforce 'no cats on the table' I caught my dear Callie sitting on a sweater that I had folded and left on the table. When I tried to scold her, she looked so miffed! As if to say, 'I'm on the fabric, NOT the TABLE!
How can we argue???
Cats are ALWAYYS right!

That's what worries me about my stove. Admiral never even offered to think about going up there but Katie...with her long Tuxie legs..she's already been. I worry.

Cat and DOG Chat With Caren said...

Oh Ben!! Cody does the same thing and it makes me soooo nervous!

We have one of those black ceramic top ranges and it stays hot after it is off. It makes me so nervous because he KNOWS he isn't allowed up there.

I will go out and come home and there are paw prints there. So far so good, he has never been hurt, but it makes me nervous just the same.

Fin wonders what the issue is?

Our mom tells us to stay off the stove too...but we never listen. Now she has to watch us closely to make sure we don't go on it when it might be hot. We do know what HOT means!

What's cooking Ben? Your bum! :D
mol! Pip likes to jump on the counter that is nearest the stove and then she snoops around the stove. Mom always baracades that countertop! We're not really allowed on the kitchen counters, but the bathroom counters are ok...talk about confusing rules!

Oh, Benny, you're not supposed to go on any food prep surfaces! That's the rule here too, although a certain tuxie is known to ignore it on a regular basis.

ha! ha! That happens here too!

The mom here worries about kitties jumping up on hot burners too! Really it's just Mica Minnie Moo who does it, but its one too many!

Esme said...

Ahh yes, jumping on counters-and walking around the stove top. Kitties kitties. what can you do?

Kat and the Furrsonality gang said...

Tsk tsk - those humans have to be more specific in their wording!

Forever Foster said...

We have to follow those rules too. And we do. Or at least, we appeared to. Suey's dirty paw prints on the bench gave us away.

Ooh, Ben! Stay off of there, okay? You're scaring us, handsome boy!

Hey Ben, what ya cookin?

Clooney said...

Ben you do look so cute hangin' out there, but that would make my Human nervous just like it does your Mum. (Tiri thanks Archie for the compliments on her toesies!)

Nadbugs said...

It appears that the space between the burners is the perfect width for you. And the paws hanging over the edge? This is the life. These humans have no sense of proportion.

Maxwell: *GASP!* oh my cat, YOU TOO? Momma gets Unreasonable when I jump up on the gas stove (same reason, too). *sigh* HUMANS.
