World Cancer Day

Today is World Cancer Day.  This candle was passed to the Blogosphere from Gracie with a request to keep it circulating.

So many of us know someone who has battled cancer and won or battled cancer and lost.  I light this candle on my blog today in honour of my Mother who is a cancer survivor and my Brother who fights cancer everyday with dignity and courage. I love them both so very much!

If your life has been touched by cancer, please take the candle and pass it on as a symbol of hope, that during our lifetime a cure will be found.

That is such a great candle and what a great idea to do. I saw it over on the Cat blogosphere and should have put it on my blog. I didn't realize that today was cancer day. I sure hope it doesn't come back for me. Take care and thanks for putting this up on your post.

Your Mom and your Brother are so brave! We purr in great admiration for your Mom's strength in defeating cancer, and for your Brother's continued efforts in fighting it. Mommy had a Grandfather who survived cancer in his 70's. Sadly, he passed away 10 years later from a botched surgical procedure that was meant to be very simple with only a 5% risk of complications.

Mum had this evil cancer and I have put this picture on my side bar in her memory. Unfortunately by the time it was discovered it was too far advanced for her to beat it. It would have been her birthday next week so we will take some flowers to the churchyard where her ashes are interred.
We are so glad you mom beat this evil disease and hope your brother will win his fight too.

It's Sunday and I'm just now getting over here to visit. Love the topic and glad for the reminder. We must continue to believe for a cure. You are in my thoughts and in my heart as you mark this very personal day for your family.

I've been so totally involved in Au's health that I missed this. Hope your brother remains well, and that this "cancer vaccination" I read about will soon be a reality.

Greetings Catrina,

We were surprised to learn that February 4th is World Cancer Day. In the US Cancer Survivor Day in June, as dad is a cancer survivor. I think we need to help get the word out because I did not know any thing and nor did my wife who works at a cancer center. Thank you for bringing t to our attention.

February is heart month, which I also celebrate, having had open-heart surgery.

Wishing you all the best,
Miss Kitty and Egmont
