Bagheera is home!!!

Wow, what a trip!  Other than a couple hours shopping at the outlet mall in Jeffersonville (yay for Pottery Barn) and a few stops for food etc, we were on the road for nineteen hours.  Robert did all the driving and was amazing but so were Chrystal and Jeanne, it it weren't for their fantastic generosity we would have had to add at least ten more hours to the trip.

Bagheera was a dream in the car.  As soon as we left wonderful Jeanne's house we opened up his carrier and let him come out if he wanted.  He was a little timid at first but quickly acclimated and spent most of the journey either reclining on the back seat or lying upside down on my lap doing happy paws in the air!

Sadly this comfortable behavior evaporated when we got home and he spent most of Sunday under the bed hiding.  I have never had a cat hide before so this was highly distressing for me.  Thankfully Ben came to the rescue and sat outside his door that evening cooing which lured him out from under the bed.  Bagheera sat quite relaxed by the door and chatted back to Ben.
can you see Ben's paw under the door?
I'm hoping that Bagheera will soon realize that this is a safe, happy place and that there is no need for him to hide or be frightened!

How wonderful that Bagheera is home! That was a long trip you all had. How great that he was so relaxed in the car.

Maybe he hid because he was concerned with the smells of the other cats. It looks like Ben is really helping things out!!

We are SURE things will settle down quickly.

I am sure that Bagheera will overcome his shyness and become a full-fleged family member. Some kitties just start off a little timid.

Don't worry overmuch about the hiding. I always did it when I was transitioning from one environment to another.

Have a great day.

We're glad to hear that the trip went so well. Bagheera does seem comfortable with Ben at the other side of the door! We hope he settles in quickly.

Simba is exactly right. It is all the cat smells that is making him a little nervous. Give him 4 or 5 days and he will be all right. I had that happen when I fostered Lil Em.
Wow, that is a lot of driving. Glad you made it all safe. What good people you are to do that for that handsome Bagheera. Can't wait to hear more news about him.

Welcome Baheera! Whay a joy he is in his forever home now. I'm sure he will settle in quite quickly.

Thank you so much for adopting a black cat ~ mom had two black cats way back, and she loved them to bits. Black cats are special and wonderful.

We're glad you're all home safe and sound. We imagine it will just take Bagheera a little bit to recover from the adventure and to realize he's in his forever home. :-)

Welcome sweet one! Hey, all will be okay, one that came and went here before me hid for two months, and then came out like all was purrfect. It just takes time for some of us.

Bagheera will feel better once he figures out that the kitties in the house are not gonna eat him.

Did Jimmy & Bagheera know each other at Chrystal's place? If so, that might help Bagheera settle in.

ppuurrrrrrrrrss to you all, and welcome to your furrrever home, Bagheera.

Happy Homecoming, Bagheera!!!
It shouldn't take him long to feel right at home. He's probably just a bit shy, which is good because you seem to have a very non-aggressive group of guys.
I know, being a Mom, you worry.
Try to stay calm and let the kitties set the pace.

Welcome home Bagheera!

You go ahead and take your sweet time getting adjusted. Did you know it took our Nigel 4 whole months plus a few days to come out of his safe room and join us? We think that it's amazing you only hid for one day. You are going to LOVE your new family.

Yay!! Welcome to your wonderful forever home, Bagheera! It's great he had a good drive home and happy paws :-)
Maybe he was a little overwhelmed when he arrived, but how nice of Ben to care for Bagheera like this. I can see his cue paw under the door :-)

My Niko hid under a dresser for a long time but he eventually came out. I'm sure Bagheera will feel safe and comfortable soon.

yay about Bagheera being home!

You should have put perfume on him, you and your other kitties...we did that when we brought Dakota home (the same perfume) and they got along instantly!

It is quite normal for cats to hide in a new environment. Bobo did that when we moved numerous times.

Cody didn't do that when we brought him here but he was much younger.

All will work out fine!

Wow that was a long trip, but so worth it, right! I remember when we got Leo from Chrystal we were on the road just 16 hours, not including spending the night in a hotel, but I'd do it all over again!
How sweet that Ben is chatting through the door! What a welcome! I'm sure Bagheera will settle in soon and you wont remember being without him. Congratulations!
Let's hope this spurs more adoptions from Chrystal! Lots of kitties need homes!
