Casper and Jimmy nose to nose |
This picture so warmed my heart! Jimmy is getting along with the boys (even Archie) very well. Unfortunately, he has had sort of a relapse concerning his odd skin condition. On Saturday we returned to the vet (the amazing Dr. D. is back from his germ conference) because his head and ears had several small scabs again and the edges were bumpy and missing fur. More scrapings were taken to send off for examinations and cultures. We have changed his food to something that has no fillers and is just a venison and green peas combo, but Dr. D. does not think it is allergies. He thinks it is some autoimmune thing, but I told him Jimmy has already tested negative for FIV/FeLV when he was with Chrystal. The puzzle continues and in the meantime Jimmy is back in his bedroom until we get the results later this week. Needless to say he is unhappy to be there. Robert thinks we should just let him out because if the boys are going to catch something they probably already did, but the vet said not to...I don't know what to do. I just hope these latest scrapings reveal something that can be easily treated so that Jimmy can join the family again!

Aw, poor Jimmy! What was the vet's reasoning for keeping him confined? I would have thought Robert was right -- too late now to worry about something being passed on to the other kitties.
Bless poor Jimmy. Kisses ad nose taps to him.
Jimmy probably won't and can't pass anything on.
We will keep our paws crossed for Jimmy - but we have to agree with Robert...if it is something he has exposed everyone already. I would call the vet and ask why poor Jimmy has to be locked up!
Poor Jimmy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We are purraying with all our hearts that this problem will just vanish so he can be with his brothers.

Salmon oil is good for the skin - some cats are just very sensitive and skin issues show up. I too think the others would have gotten it if it was contagious.
Hi Cat,
What a shame! He was having such a good time with his new brothers. I guess it's better to keep him contained and hope they can diagnose the problem, but I would think it would already have been passed on if it's contageous.
I hope you are feeling better.
I know we don't have a vote sweet Jimmy, but we think Robert is right too! I sure hope they figure out what's bugging you Jimmy, we'll all keep our paws crossed here!
Awww Jimmy we are so sorry that you have to be confined again. We hope that this is something that the Vet can easily get to the bottom.
purrin

What a sweet picture! We sure hope Jimmy is going to be fine and doesn't have anything bad. He is so handsome! We think he needs to be confined though as heartbreaking as it is to do. We send lots of healing thoughts and vibes to him! Lots of love, Holly and mom
Poor Jimmy! I can only imagine how frustrated he must be to be cooped up while tests are being run on his skin condition. I hope the vet figures out what it is soon so he can get back to becoming part of the family.
We hope you're able to spring Jimmy soon! If the Horde has been interacting, it's likely everone's been exposed...and it might be a non-issue. Poor Jimmy, we hope they diagnose him soon.
We hope Jimmy feels better real soon! Such a cute photo of the boys!!
Brillian to hear all the boys and the mancat are getting on!
Purrs and healing vibes coming your way Jimmy!

Aww that is a cute pic! Was there a big whap afterwards?
Poor Jimmy being confined like that. At least he gets lots of peaceful nap time to himself. Hopefully the vet will have it sorted very soon.
We'z wif effuryone else, if he haf something contajus it is to late to stop da spread...poor Jimmy, he just finds out he haf nice brofurs to play wif and he gets locked up alone again. Just doesn't seem fair.
Poor Jimmy! He is just getting to know the other boys and we bet he really likes them!
Poor Jimmy! Crusty ears in Malaysia mean mites. Ugly to look at but easily treated. We hope it's a s simple for Jimmy.
What sweetie pies! I so want a sibling! They just ooze love to each other.
What a sweet picture. I am so glad they are getting along. Good luck with the ears.
Good luck with Jimmy's skin issues! Sorry to hear the poor little dude has to be confined again - that can't be fun for anyone. When she was confined, Melly used to throw herself against the door and howl.
Oh we're sorry Jimmy is still having problems. We purr that he will be better again soon. It's nice to know he's getting along with the others so well!
We are purring for sweet Jimmy and hope that whatever it is he can get back to socializing with the boys soon.
Keeping my paws crossed that the vet can discover what the problem is and can be treated!
poor Jimmy! We hope the Dr can figure out what's going on. Purrs from all of us!
Pip, Smidgen, Minnie, and Hollie
Poor Jimmy, that sounds like no fun at all. I'm sending some of my best RUMBLEPURRs to him that he gets better soon.
Jimmy...Jimmy boy, I hope you get a good good results back.
When I was sick, I still want to go out. I scratched the door million times but my dad always locked me in because he knew if I went out , I just run around outside or fight with other cats and I don't get a nap. No way, my body is going to heal. But if I'm inside...I get bored very easy and then I just have a long nap. And that heal my body.
but they know I love fresh air, To make me happy they open the door but locked the screen door.
But I never been locked in much more than two days so we really don't know what it should be
I have to agree with everyone else in that everyone in the house has already been exposed so I don't see a reason to shut Jimmy up again. But guess you have to do what the vet says. We are crossing our paws that Jimmy gets better really quickly. Poor thing. Take care.
Poor little Jimmy ~ just when we were all celebrating him being owt to play. We so hope his test results are good ~ and although it is hard to keep him confined, it's probably best to take the vet's advice, rather than risk the other cats' health.
We are sending dear little Jimmy HUGE get well purrs.
Aw, poor guy. That photo is just adorable. I have to say that I would err on the side of caution and though it's frustrating, I would confine him. Just in case. Give Jimmy some extra pets from us.
It sounds exactly like what my Cody has and Cody's is a food allergy (at least my vet is fairly certain it is!)
Cody has been on rabbit and pea food for a few months now and rarely if EVER gets anymore scabs...my vet didn't even culture Cody's scab...he knew what it was!
I am so sad that Jimmy is confined again - it really does sound a lot like a food allergy to me. I know that animals have weird reactions to foods sometimes - I know a dog who has issues from almost every food out there - the less ingredients the better in that case, and it sounds like you are doing the right thing. I agree that if there was anything contagious it would be showing up in the others already - which is another reason I say allergies sounds like the likely culprit. Now you just have to figure out what he is allergic to.
It is a pity that Jimmy has to be confined again just as he was getting to know everybody. We hope his ears soon heal up and he can go back out with the others.
Awwww!!! What a shame!! We hope the vet finds out what it is quick, so Jimmy can join the boys again!!
Happy Holidays from your TX furiends,
Hi Ben!! Wanna come over and play with me?
