Thankful Thursday

I am thankful that Molly was with me for many, many years.  She was present for my life's major moments and saw me through good times and bad.  Although I am so heart-heavy at her loss, I can't help but be happy that we were companions for such a long time!

I am also thankful for my friends in the Cat Blogosphere, their outpouring of compassion at my loss and their unbelievably comforting words.  I'm not certain I can properly express my gratitude for the comfort they have given me.
Molly in more robust days
I am thankful that I have been able to fly to England three times this year and visit my lovely brother which would not have been possible without my man Robert.  When I'm away he keeps the homefires burning and looks after all the kitties so well!  Robert would not let me take Molly to the vet last Wednesday evening when I got home.  He said how could I be expected to step off a plane all exhausted and jet-lagged, gather up my girl and take her to the vet to go to the bridge...it would just be too much!  He was right and as a result of his level-headed thinking I got to spend one final night with Molly sleeping on my pillow, her little face pressed against my cheek as she purred her love to me for the last time.  On this day, one week since her death, I am so very thankful for that memory.

Oh, cat...(((hugs))).

I live in dread of losing my fur babies, but of course I will. Either that or I'll go before them, something I don't want. I'm glad you had so many years with her, but it's never enough, you know?

Peace.

Hello Cat,
I just recently found your blog through Miss Kitty van Dyck. What a wonderful family you have. They are such beautiful kitties!
I am so sorry to read about Molly's passing. Three of my dear ones crossed over last year and it was devastating.
I love calicos, and Molly was a lovely one!
She will always live on in your heart.
You have my sincerest sympathy!

Mom and I are also so very happy that you had that last night with Molly. If she was purring, it sounds like you did not cause her any untoward discomfort by waiting.

Purrs and virtual hugs.

WE are so glad that you got that last night with Molly. What great memories. And terrific for Molly too to have a night with you. Good stuff. Have a fine day.

I am very Thankful that you had Molly for so long, and that you had that last night with her sleeping with you. If she was purring, you probably did not cause her undue discomfort by delaying. She must have been very happy to have you back from your trip.

You are still in our thoughts. It is hard to say goodbye to a sweet fur baby.

Your post was so sweet. Our pets never live "long" enough to our human standards. The photo you posted of Molly was so sweet, and her puffy tail is just adorable.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if our pets could live as long as the humans? However, it's not possible, so we must treasure the time we have with them. The CB is such a comforting group and my mom knows that she will need them one day for me.

We are still so sad that Molly had to go, but we know you gave her a wonderful, loving, happy life, and we know she gave you lots of love and happiness in return!

Sending over lots of hugs!

Well, we all understand how you felt, and most of the humans have been where you were at one point or another. Molly sounds like she was one of your grounding forces for quite a long time, and I'm sure she was grateful you were in her life too.

There was such love between you and in the end that is all that matters. We are so sad for you, and yet happy that Molly had such a good long life. It is never long enough, and it is so difficult to know that we will outlive our lovely furry babies. But it is all the good things that happen that makes up for the grief that comes with letting go. Molly will always be with you, nothing can touch the love in your heart.

We all of us have suffered this terrible loss and we know what you went through. That deep deep sorrow and broken heart seems as though it will never heal but it does eventually and we're grateful for the sweet innocent love and preciousness we had with our furbaby.

I am reminded of my Robin who left me at the age of 16 with KD and my present baby who is 12 with thyroid problems and meds. We love them as much as they too love us.

I send love and hugs and the Admiral sends purrs.

This is the Admirals mom..I haven't logged off my own blog..I forgot. ♥
