Picky Mancat Monday

Does anyone remember this picture?   It was taken back in April when we were attempting to find a wet food that everyone liked.  The cats were very interested in the food trials and gathered in the kitchen for each taste test.  After going through several different brands of premium grain free cat foods we finally landed on a flavour they would all eat.  I thought it would be smooth sailing after that...

However, some interesting patterns have developed since then.  No longer can I set down five bowls of food and have five cats dine together, nope, now everyone has their preferred eating spots and I have to run around the house at mealtime delivering room service.

Casper likes to eat in the sunroom either on top of the wardrobe, where he can usually be found sleeping, or on the cat tree.  In all fairness I don't mind ferrying his food to him because he is deaf and cannot hear the clattering of dishes which brings the other boys running to the kitchen at mealtime.

Ben will arrive in the kitchen with the boys to make sure food is being served up then dash into the dining room and wait on the table where he likes to take his meals (although sometimes he won't be bothered to get off our bed and come downstairs in which case I have to carry his food up to him).

Archie also likes to eat in the dining room but on the sideboard

Sweet Jimmy keeps things simple for me and takes his dinner on the kitchen floor beside the stove.

and Kipper, who never met a food he didn't like eats on the kitchen island which is directly behind where I prepare the food.  From this vantage point he can monitor every morsel that is served up and meow encouragement to me if necessary.

Does anyone else have such picky mancats?!?!

I certainly hope those picky mancats are good tippers. I bet you need another meal after running to and fro.

I, Madi, am not picky about where or what I eat...I am picky and panicky if it is late!!
Hugs and thanks for the smiles
Who says cats don't have unique and wonderful personalities. I just love these pics
    hugs madi and Mom

  2. Being the only mancat here, I do like to be served in different places from time to time!

  3. We are not picky where we eat which is on the kitchen floor, but we are very picky about what we eat. Mum is always trying to find something we will both eat. It doesn't matter how expensive it is, we try the sachets for a couple of days then decide we don't like it after all.

  4. We do okay eating in the same location. We just keep Mom Paula on her toes because we change our tastes in what we like daily.

  5. We have to say, this is pretty funny and cute at the same time. "Service with a Smile"! I have to eat either in the powder room or the basement, and Audrey int he kitchen so that she does not eat all of my food. And sometimes I show the humans a strong preference for one of those two spots by running there ahead of them. Or usually HER, because I very very much prefer Mom to set it down for me.

  6. LOL! Are you kidding? We eat in the same spot--we eat our kibble together, the paltry 1 TBSP twice a day that we each get. And we eat our canned separately, Derry eats that in Annie's old spot, because he's slower eating the wet food.

The mom says forget this taking food all over the house (unless there is good reason like a sick kitty or whathave you). LOL.

  7. Heheheheh!
Here at home every mancats eats together except for Aimee (the girl), who prefers to eat later, alone.

  8. Boy do they have YOU trained. MOL Mom says to us - deal with it (though to be honest, we mostly come running when she doles out the meals - and even faster when she feeds the kitts). :)

  10. Hannah always eats in the kitchen but Lucy likes hers on the kitchen windowsill or under the table, or in the conservatory either on the chair, on the back of the chair, on the windowsill, on Mum's computer desk or anywhere that is inconvenient at that time!! If it's a nice day she quite likes a picnic in the garden! At least Mum keeps fit finding the "spot of the day"!!
Luv Hannah and Lucy xx xx

  11. Oh my gosh Cat1 This made me laugh outloud! That is exactly how it is here...me running around, like you, delivering "room service". And even as I am doing it, I am wondering how they have trained me so well to do their exact bidding!!
And btw, it's not just the boys in our house...it's the girls too!! :p

  12. I feed in six different locations, Plus some room service to The Baby, if she's sleeping on the dryer.

    I am whipped.

  13. LOL, that is funny how they all have their spots. I don't give ours that luxury--I put down the food and they need to come and eat it. :-)

  14. I know that routine, too, though in some cases, I must separate the cats at meal-times because some are so easily distracted. As for a food they all like, I thought that Wellness chicken flavour was the winner - until I bought a case of it, and everyone started turning up their noses. Sigh.

  15. It is interesting the experiments. It is not always easy.
To us it is easier with only two cats.

  16. I'd like to know how these guys worked out THIS situation - they certainly did a great job of getting things just the way they wanted them!

  17. We usually go in search of mombean because we cannot wait for our food to arrive, she says we show up looking for meals far too often. Only Cookie gets his delivered, and gets to eat meals in the bathroom with the door closed, because he eats slow and his food has medicine in it.

  18. LOL! Your boys have trained you verrrrrrry well, methinks. No wonder they call us their servants!

I hope you get some decent tips, at least -- like a cuddle or a kiss now and then.

  19. Ours are both picky and have senative tums. We have one that will only eat dry food and has been like that all her life ...as a kitten we has to soak it in cat milk and water. Having so many I have tried many of the cheaper brands of foods with no success . The ones that would eat it ended up with bad tums ...vet visits in a few cases and then back to Felix. Iams is the only dry food that does not make any of them sick ...i've tried cheaper ones but little piles of half digested dry food appear over the house YUK. 12 eat in the hall from 3 large plates ...3 in the kitchen and 3 + the kittens in the front room, all with their own bowls ...feeding time is such fun ...lol ...oh yes and only some of them actually like real meat!!!Dont you just love cats.

  20. LOL!! Sounds like they are enjoying room service! I love Archie's photo eating on the sideboard. It looks very unique place to have meal :-)
My Goro always comes to his dining table. Though, Niko often hesitates..so I have to give him airlift to the table.

  21. Oh YES! We've manipula- err, encouraged Mommy to feed us in special spots, too. And it must be served JUST right. (FYI, Daddy does NOT get it right when she's gone. Just meowing.)

  22. Wow, did they train you well or what?? MOL

  23. how about picky ladycats? :D actually, we each have special needs and eat something different so we have to eat separate - we each have our own dining room, mol! it seriously takes our mom about 20 minutes to serve us all! we applaud your mancats for keeping you on your toes :D hee hee!

  24. Ha!! How did you discover their room service requirement? Did they each start edging away from the kitchen in different directions until suddenly they were all in separate rooms? So funny.

  25. Out of the four here, we have two picky ones, Mother and Son team, Tama and Bibi. Tama loves alfresco dining so if the weather is at all conducive, I feed her in the run. And Bibi likes his food bowl either on top of the washing machine or on the new cat tree. The other two are kind enough to eat on the table!

  26. All of us eat the same food too whether kibbles or canned.
Thank you for visiting and send loving purrs.

  27. You should have meals on wheels with all that running around. The cats have done such a good job of training their peep.
Tommie, Gracie and Mickey Mouser are all fed separately so that I know that Tommie hasn't eaten all three suppers!

  28. OMC, that is so funny! WEll, maybe not for you, Cat, since you have to race around to the different feeding spots. :)

We have to feed Moosey and Sammy separately, since they try to eat each others food...

  29. Eu gostar de comer no chão da cozinha,
mas Charlott preferir comer na mesa da
cozinha, já Lilica gosta de comer na cama se possível. Vocês não tão esquisitos afinal.

  30. Hee-hee...kitty dinning is something, isn't it? Our Mumsy makes grumbly noises lots of times while trying to find our chosen eating place on account it moves every so often. (PS., we gave you guys an award in our post. We just appreciate you :-)

  31. Cat, they have you well trained! tee hee hee
Oh my goodness, trying to remember who is whose spot!
Good thing Rio isn't as finicky as her feline brothers! LOL

  32. I was with you on Casper, I would so bring a deaf boy his food if he didn't show up. and I'd probably give food up on the table if that is where he sat, but I so wouldn't bring the food to the bed.. :) You have some very pampered kitties there! :) (and handsome too)
