On Sunday when I was vacuuming in the bedroom, Casper came in to see me. The vacuum has never bothered him because being a deaf cat, he cannot hear the loud noise.

Casper has always enjoyed a good brushing, both the zoom groom and the furminator are fine with him. So I wondered if he would like being vacuumed too. I had the round brush attachment on the hose because I was cleaning under the bed when Casper approached me. I started stroking Casper's back with the nozzle and he LOVED it. He stood for several minutes while I did the top of his back, head and sides :-)

I wish I had pictures!!! It seems that in future I will have to do the vacuuming with a camera in my pocket in case Casper is amenable to another suction grooming :-)
You are a gorgeous, generous, brave and above all an exceptional cat! Not to be afraid of the vacuum cleaner is extraordinary, but to like a brushing by it is exceptional!

I've seen other cats being vacuumed on YouTube... now I am wondering if they too are deaf! I would definitely love to see photos of this, Casper!

ReplyDeletemom hadn't thought about the brush attachment. maestro let her vaccuum him once but ran the last time. doc had more fun chasing it than anything else. :)

Wow, Casper, you are BRAVE! Our Sammy is also deaf and unafraid of the vacuum. As long as he does not see it, that is.

ReplyDeleteI'm sure Casper's deafness allowed him to sample this exotic pleasure! I think I'd like to be vacuumed, too, if it wasn't so noisy.
ReplyDeleteI use an electric massager that makes quite a buzzing sound, but Dylan and Domino just love it. Dylan jumps up and actually begs for it.

Issa is the only one who really seems afraid of the vacumm cleaner!

ReplyDeleteOMC, too funny! We've heard of the occasional cat liking to be vacuumed, but it's so rare...of course he couldn't hear the horrific noise. Very cool. LOL.
ReplyDeleteBTW, our mom's left a couple of comments on Cheri's blog re: the buddy system she is hoping to set up. We're thinking that it might be helpful to pair up with someone in-country -- in-province, or reasonably close -- would be even better. Not suggesting you pair up with us, you might have other preferences, this was just a general thought. Our mom would have to go get an out-of-Canada calling card to have on hand if she were to pair up with anyone in the U.S. (as an example). And we're pretty sure someone in the U.K. would prefer to call in-country too, rather than overseas. (There's also the time differences to take into account, in the case of an emergency.)

One of the simplest ways of watching over a pet remotely is by using some sort of webcam software like GotoCamera that is easily available online these days. Thanks to technology and some very smart people who are working on making things easier for us, you can now use your basic webcam to monitor your pets while you're away from them.
