Whisker Watch

Young master Archie does not like to have his picture taken.  He would not cooperate and look directly into the camera when I was trying to document a change in his whiskers....it's like he didn't even realize the gravity of the situation!

The first picture is of Archie is when we first got him and he was a youngster.  There are no freckles on his little nose (looks sort of heart shaped doesn't it) or at least very faint ones and all his whiskers are white.

I had to take these next two pictures of him in a groggy state hanging his head over the edge of the cat tree when he had just woken up yesterday.  If you look closely you will see two brown whiskers on each cheek and definite freckles on his nose and one prominent brown freckle in the centre of his nose.

can you see my brown whiskers?

can you see my freckles?
I wonder if any other cat households have the kind of fascinating conversations that we do...
me: "hey did you see that Archie has grown a couple of brown whiskers?"
Robert: "I know they're wild!"

***Note:  Just now when I was biggifying the second picture I think I saw a brown eyebrow whisker too...gadzooks, the excitement around here just doesn't end!!!

  1. My human has one of my whiskers taped to her laptop, and it goes with her when she travels. I used to have one "ticked" whisker (Somali cats have ticked fur, which means it has lots of different colors on each hair), but it's gone now. My human is sad she did not find it - it was her favorite.

  7. Mom says I have developed dark spots inside my lips - I guess it is part of the same increase in pigment as we kitties get older.

  13. Yes! We see that brown whisker. Our Mom is a whisker fanatic! When she finds one, she saves it in a special container. Yep, weird one she is!

  14. Yes, we do that too. We've learned never to speak this way in the pub, because people stare at us. And it's not good to be called Crazy Cat People...

  16. Cute! We think next to paws, our mom is a whisker fanatic, mol! We see Archie's brown whisker and his freckles :).

After the Katnip Lounge post, our mom has collected some of our whiskers and saved them - we each have a spot where we sleep so she knows whose is whose when she finds them there!

  18. Archie, I see your new brown whiskers and your brown eyebrow! That freckle on your nose sets off the pinkness wonderfully.

We have great excitement around here too. Just think! I had all black whiskers and I had three new ones grown in as white as snow! They're extra pointy hard too! My nose leather is black and like satin. No changes there yet.

    I love your conversations..more please. ♥

  19. We saw your brown whiskers - very cute. Our mum always saves our discarded whiskers - no we don't know why either but we think she's going senile!

  21. Cute photos of shy Archie; our Calle has a white fur in her eyebrow and sometimes Sukki gets freckles on her whiskers=they were prominant when she was a baby and she's the baby here, so maybe that's why she still gets them sometimes :)...Great Veteran's Day post and we loved reading about sweet, loving Ben=what a precious baby...We will purr for Ash's ears and bald spots to clear up and hope he gets that cone off tomorrow as planned; he is really adorable...We are trying to catch up with our wonderful friends on the weekends; our Mommy's new job, along with her part time one, makes it difficult to visit during the week now...We hope you all enjoy a fun weekend together, sweet friends...kisses...Calle, Halle, Sukki

  27. I had never been owned by an orange cat before I adopted Zoe. A little while after she had moved in and had started to trust me, I noticed these black spots on her gums. I upset her greatly when I tried to look at them. Imagine my embarrassment when I finally learned that the spots were normal for an orange cat! She also has had a couple of black whiskers which are just adorable!! She's back to all white for now, though. ;)
