Ash Update/Worldwide Moment

Hi All,

Darling Ash was at the animal hospital this morning to have his follow-up appointment.  The vet was very pleased with his  progress and thought the fur was growing back nicely on his ears!  I was thrilled because I had told Ash that we would throw his cone away today.  Unfortunately the vet said we had to continue with the anti-fungal/antibiotic cream for another another week.  It is starting to look now like it was some kind of skin infection and Ash got another injection of Convenia, but he can't rule out ringworm until the culture produces a fully negative result which means staying in isolation from the other cats for another week.  Poor lonely lamb, I feel so sad for Ash but I have to do what is best for the household too.

Today we joined our CB friends to participate in the Worldwide Moment. At 11:00pm GMT, 6:00pm our time, we paused for reflection on all the wonderful kitties who have gone before: Doobie (Mr. Dubois), our very first family cat which I brought home from school, Tiptoes, Tigger, Abby (the amazing Abyssinian), Ally, sweet Max and lovely Molly.  We sent all our healing thoughts and positive energy to those kitties out there who are ill or abandoned in the hopes that they will be well again and that kind souls will open their homes and save a life.  I personally contemplated how truly fortunate I am the live with four wonderful kitties who enhance my life everyday!

  1. That sounds like good news. Better to be safe keeping Ash away from the others. Besides, he'll appreciate everyone more when he gets free!

  7. Poor little guy! At least he's getting better, and another week will soon be gone.
I spent my Moment today reminiscing about all the kitties I've had in my life; gosh there's a LOT! All of them loved to pieces.

  9. Dear Caterina and Ash,

Sorry to hear that the little guy still needs to be isolated before joining the gang. However a week will go fast and if Ash is found OK by then, he and the others can start playing and having a ball.

I think this second annual remembrance if a wonderful idea and we too will set aside a moment this evening.

Wishing you all the very best,
    Miss Kitty and Egmont

  16. Thanks for the update on Ash. We hope that this definitely will be the last week for his cone, and his isolation.

Watch for any side effects from the Convenia, Cat. In a small % of cats it's been known to cause anemia and even death. All my cats had it after dental, before I knew of the possible consequences, and I probably won't allow the vets to use it again on them. I actually had Derry's red cell level tested a couple of weeks after the shot (and after reading up on it), just to make sure he was okay. Not trying to scare you, just to let you know there ARE issues with that drug.

  20. Prince Casper, your Mom is right you are a gorgeous mancat. I meow very quietly so hardly anyone ever hears me. I manage to get what I want across without meows. ~Artemisia

We are thrilled to know that Ash is getting better. Hope he can meet the rest of his family soon.

  21. I'm so happy to hear about Ash's improvement. Oh well, another week will go quickly and then he can join the rest of the gang.

I'm sure he gets and gives lots of cuddles when you're visit him in his isolation.

Yes, there have been so many lovely kitties who have passed on this year. It seems many more of late. We send well wishes to all who are still here that they can stay as long as they want.
