Darling Ash was at the animal hospital this morning to have his follow-up appointment. The vet was very pleased with his progress and thought the fur was growing back nicely on his ears! I was thrilled because I had told Ash that we would throw his cone away today. Unfortunately the vet said we had to continue with the anti-fungal/antibiotic cream for another another week. It is starting to look now like it was some kind of skin infection and Ash got another injection of Convenia, but he can't rule out ringworm until the culture produces a fully negative result which means staying in isolation from the other cats for another week. Poor lonely lamb, I feel so sad for Ash but I have to do what is best for the household too.
That sounds like good news. Better to be safe keeping Ash away from the others. Besides, he'll appreciate everyone more when he gets free!

ReplyDeleteSorry to hear that the little guy still needs to be isolated before joining the gang. However a week will go fast and if Ash is found OK by then, he and the others can start playing and having a ball.
I think this second annual remembrance if a wonderful idea and we too will set aside a moment this evening.

ReplyDeleteWatch for any side effects from the Convenia, Cat. In a small % of cats it's been known to cause anemia and even death. All my cats had it after dental, before I knew of the possible consequences, and I probably won't allow the vets to use it again on them. I actually had Derry's red cell level tested a couple of weeks after the shot (and after reading up on it), just to make sure he was okay. Not trying to scare you, just to let you know there ARE issues with that drug.
Bless him - we hope Ash can get rid of that nasty cone soon and play with his new kitty family.
